Metal Division Holds FY2026 General Meeting

On September 21st, the Metal Division (Chaired : Mr. SUNANO Masahiko, JFE Steel (Thailand) Co., Ltd.) held its FY2026 General Meeting and networking reception at a hotel in Bangkok.


During the general meeting, Chair SUNANO reported on the division’s activities for FY2026 and introduced the members of the division’s executive committee.


Following the meeting, Ms. KUBO Machika of MU Research and Consulting (Thailand) Co., Ltd. was invited to deliver a presentation entitled “CBAM Basics for Exports to the EU.” She provided an overview of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), the EU’s mechanism for addressing carbon emissions associated with certain imported goods. The definitive phase of CBAM began on January 1, 2026. Her presentation covered the implementation schedule, scope of application, calculation methods, and potential impact on businesses.


The event concluded with a networking reception, where committee members had the opportunity to strengthen relationships and exchange views.
